One Last Goodbye - Anathema

Bu kez bir değil iki şarkı için yazıyorum. (hatta üç olsun) Bu şarkıları ayıramıyorum, çünkü hikaye tek.

Şarkıyla ilgili yorumlarda okuyorum, böyle birini kim bırakıp gider ki yazanlar, şarkıyı yazdırana sövenler filan var. Siz etmeyin, alelade bir terkedilmişlik sanmayın, şarkıya yazık olmasın diye bloguma hemen ekliyorum. Bu şarkılar Cavanagh kardeşlerin intihar eden anneleri için yazılmış bir sitem ve ağıt aslında. Şarkıda duyduğunuz, hissettiğiniz acı aslında çok daha derin bir acının kıyıya vurmuş parçaları.

Vincent ve Danny Cavanagh'a bu vurucu şarkıları yazdıran şey anneleri Helen'e olan düşkünlükleri ve onu kaybedişleri, 1998'de gerçekleşen acı bir aile dramı.

"One Last Goodbye" ile dinlemeye başlayalım. Judgement albümünde yer alır. Danny Cavanagh yazmış. Albümde bu şarkının hemen ardında yer alan "Parisienne Moonlight"'ın da bu şarkıya cevaben, Helen'in dilinden yazıldığı rivayet edilir. Vokal seçimini de düşünürsek (Lee Douglas) uygun düşmekte. İki şarkıyı ardarda dinlerseniz etkilenmemeniz mümkün değil. Parisienne Moonlight nasıl bu kadar etkileyici olabilir, neden bu kadar kısa gelir, kısa geldiği için mi etkileyicidir merak ettirir. (Loopa alınıp hala etkileyici olduğu görülüp teori çürütülür)

Bir de "A Natural Disaster" albümünde yer alan "Are You There"'den bahsedelim. Judgement'tan 2 yıl sonra çıkardıkları albümde artık "One Last Goodbye" kadar etkileyici olmasa da tüyler ürpertici bir şarkı daha yazmışlar. Bunu da artık bir hayaletle konuşur gibi yazmışlar. Orjinal kayıtta başlangıçta bir "Yes" ile başlıyor parça. ama ben konser kaydı paylaşmak istiyorum:
